Affectionately Known as "Neenie"
"Our Best Friend"
SALT LAKE - <! > Our adorable, awesome Grandma Neenie passed away peacefully on December 11, 2003 surrounded by her family.
Born October 27, 1936 in McGill, Nevada to LaVon James and Marie Robertson Morley, Maurine was the oldest of six children. Maurine spent two years living in Japan, and the rest of her life was spent in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married to J Marsh BrockBank, (later divorced). Married to D. John "Woody" Wood, (later divorced). Married Tom S. Korologos - her "knight in shining armor" on August 22, 1994. They were blissfully residing at Old Farm in Salt Lake City.
After graduating from East High School and then Cosmetology school, she served thousands of women during her 48 year career as a hairdresser owning and operating salons in the Sugarhouse area with her mother Marie, daughter Tracy, and sister-in-law Sharon. Maurine never knew the meaning of a sick day, and she lovingly spent many days serving her family and friends in one capacity or another. She considered her clients "dear friends" and if they couldn't come to her because of illness or injury, she would go to them. An exceptional woman, with energy to spare, Maurine also owned and operated the Mick Riley Golf Course Cafe along with her family for 10 years. There she taught her children to serve others and take personal responsibility as she developed good people skills and amazing work ethics within them. At the golf course Maurine was able to share her passion for golf with her children as she played in many local tournaments, women's clubs or just for fun with her family. The highlight of her golf career was her hole-in-one-shot last year at the Forest Dale golf course. A member of the LDS church, Maurine enjoyed serving in the Young Women's organization where she had an amazing gift of relating to teenagers and making them feel loved unconditionally and supported without question. Maurine was indeed one of the most unselfish women to grace this earth. Her motto in life was "There is always room for one more." She was indeed a Christ-like woman giving without question and figuring out the logistics of finances later. Everyone's best friend and her children's and grandchildren's biggest fan and cheerleader, wild horses couldn't keep her away from an important event in her family's lives. Her favorite thing was just being with her family-which she did often. Maurine's vibrant, enthusiastic, positive, energetic persona was contagious and she made us feel like we could do anything! She looked for the good in every situation and within every person she came in contact with. We are all better people for having known her-There will never be another Neenie!**** See ya on the 19th hole!
