Cherrell Johnson Gifford, 74,
beloved wife and eternal partner, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, returned to our Heavenly Father December 13, 2003. She passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in a tent under an old Oak tree in Springdale on December 10, 1929 to A. Oscar and Geneva Johnson. Cherrell grew up in Springdale and upon marriage moved to Salt Lake City. She married Reed S. Gifford on May 26, 1946 and was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in May 1955.
She is survived by her husband Reed S. Gifford; daughters Maureen (Robert) Pulliam of West Jordan; Arleen (Rick) Paxman of Herriman; Charleen (Jack) Fisher of West Jordan; son Jeff (Jeana) Gifford of Draper; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grand-children; sister Carma (James) Cope of California; brothers O. Rolfston (Francis) Johnson of Springdale; Dennis E. (Pearl Ann) Johnson of Springdale.
Cherrell was an avid fisherman and absolutely loved the outdoors. She had a beautiful singing voice that she loved to share with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was very creative and enjoyed doing Lapidary at home. We await the time when we will all be reunited again in heaven. Until then, we have cherished memories that will be shared again and again. We love you!
A special thank you to our friends at Harmony Hospice and their loving care for Cherrell.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Rd., West Jordan, where friends may call on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service.
