I read articles every day of people writing in voicing their concern and frustration regarding illegal immigrants. The polls show 60 to 70 percent of the American people want the borders closed and the illegal immigrants issue resolved by sending a majority of them back.

Why do our elected officials feel they have to counter our wishes? They are elected to represent the people who voted them in. Why do they continually go the opposite way of what we want?

We need leaders, not followers. A congressman who declined to run again said on a recent TV program that once they are elected it becomes a different world. It is all about power, getting re-elected, and they don't care what we think. I agree.

The billions of dollars being sent overseas and to South America by illegal immigrants do not help our economy. The cheap labor has a negative impact on people who are here legally. Companies that continue to hire illegal labor create some of the unemployment problems we have.

We need leadership, and we are not getting it.
