BRIGHAM CITY — The man convicted of murder in the shooting death of a 19-year-old Pocatello man was sentenced to five years to life in prison Monday in Brigham City.

Jared Mendoza, 21, Pocatello, was transported to the Utah State Prison after his sentence in 1st District Court on Monday. His sentence includes the possibility of parole.

Mendoza admitted to shooting Timothy Lords, whose body was found by a hunter Sept. 27, 2002, on a dirt road in Box Elder County.

He said he shot Lords at the request of Jerime Anderson, 25, Pocatello, who was convicted by a jury earlier this month of conspiracy to commit murder but was found not guilty of murder.
