1923 ~ 2003

Gilbert Alfred Hill died Sunday, December 14 at South Davis Community Hospital of complications due to a brain tumor.

Gilbert was born at home in Bountiful, Utah, September 27, 1923 to Alfred T. Hill and Alta Gilbert Hill. He married Beverly Edith Call on June 2, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They greatly enjoyed their years of gardening, travel and companionship. His three children, 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandson were a source of great pride and enjoyment. He loved spending time at the mountain cabin that he built with his own hands, and the help of friends and family. His yard and garden were a pleasure to all, and won awards from Bountiful City numerous times. He was proud of his military service during both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was also a Captain in the U.S. Public Health Service Reserves. He was a great advocate of education, and often said that he was proud that all of his grandkids were smarter than him.

He received his Bachelors, Masters and PhD in Microbiology from the University of Utah. He was the Director of Microbiology at LDS Hospital for his entire career and greatly enjoyed the association he had with the many wonderful people he worked with. He took pleasure in his continued association with them after his retirement and appreciated their visits and concern during his illness.
