Vern D. Boren, age 82, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the American Fork Hospital.

He was born on July 20, 1921 in Wallsburg, Utah to William and Elva May Lamb Boren, the sixth of seven sons.

He graduated from American Fork High School and worked for the Union Pacific Railroad before serving in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Italy for two

years. He married Vonda Jensen on August 14, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Vern worked for Geneva Steel for 36 years, retiring at the age of 62. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Vern is survived by his wife, Vonda; five children: E. Lynn (Mary Lynn) Boren, Pleasant Grove; Eileen (Dave) Forman, Pleasant Grove; Gary (Sherry) Boren, Alpine; Dale (Marcie) Boren, Spanish Fork; Denise (Lynn) Nylund, Sandy; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and his brother Carl, of American Fork. His parents; five brothers: Leo W., James Othell, Leon L., Lamar, and Keith E. Boren; two grandchildren, Devin and Jodilyn Boren; and one great-grandchild, Lucie Boren, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 19, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the American Fork 27th Ward, 165 North 350 West. Family and friends may call Thursday evening, December 18, from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork, 49 East 100 North, and at the church Friday morning one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the American Fork City Cemetery.
