George was proud to be a west side resident, and spoke often of how much he enjoyed the friendships he made over the years. He had a wonderful gift for music, in particular the piano, which gave him much personal enjoyment and inspired his grandchildren. George also loved sporting events, especially the Utes and Jazz. His work ethic was a great example to his family. When a task seemed too big, he would offer encouragement by reminding us that "the trip of a thousand miles begins with the first step." In later years his body failed him but his mind remained sharp.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alta. He is survived by two daughters, Joyce Avery and Marilyn Furlong, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Heidi and the staff of Evergreen Residential for the wonderful care and love they provided during the last seven months.

In lieu of flowers, we welcome your words of love and support. Arrangement under the direction of Larkin Mortuary.
