MURRAY — A Murray toddler died Saturday night after accidentally drowning in a bathtub.
The 18-month-old boy apparently crawled into the tub on his own while his 3-year-old sibling was being bathed by another older child, Murray Police detective Rob Hall said. The eldest child left the room, followed by the 3-year-old, leaving the toddler alone in the tub, where he drowned at about 9 p.m.
Detectives are still trying to determine just how long the boy was alone but do not believe it was for long, Hall said. Nothing about the investigation suggests the drowning was anything more than an accident, he added.
Paramedics at the home, near 5200 South and 900 East, administered CPR on the boy and he was also airlifted to Primary Children's Medical Center but could not be revived.
Police have declined to release the name of the boy and his family. After the drowning, police called the the Division of Child and Family Services, but Hall said the call was "routine." DCFS is not investigating the family, he said.
