WEST JORDAN — Utah Nonprofit Housing Corporation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the West Jordan Senior Housing complex on Thursday at 2 p.m.

The project, which also involved West Jordan City, Salt Lake County and the Olene Walker housing trust fund, will include a 64-unit housing complex for low-income seniors 62 and older. The complex will be located near 2200 West Sugar Factory Road (about 8100 South).

Housing will be provided to those who are at or below 50 percent of the area's median income. Residents will pay 30 percent of their income in rent. Other amenities will include a community room, on-site laundry facilities, craft room, library and landscaped grounds. Local social services will provide meals, a food bank, senior transportation and health clinics.
