LAS VEGAS (AP) — Junior guard Romel Beck scored a career-high 24 points to lead UNLV past Montana 86-67 Tuesday night.

Beck was 10-of-15 from the field and had 14 first-half points.

Also for UNLV (8-3), J.K. Edwards scored 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field.

Third-year Rebels coach Charlie Spoonhour won his 50th game at UNLV.

James Peters added 15 points for UNLV, while Odartey Blankson had 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Kamarr Davis led Montana (3-8) with 18 points.

Kevin Criswell, Derrick Mansell and Steve Horne added 10 points apiece. Criswell also had nine rebounds.

The Rebels were 29-of-51 for 56.9 percent from the field while the Grizzlies were 25-of-62 for 40.3 percent.

UNLV went to the foul line 22 times and converted 25 for 88 percent, while Montana made just seven of 13 from the line for 53.8 percent

There were eight lead changes in the first half. UNLV built its biggest lead of the half at 39-31 with 1:39 left and led 40-33 at halftime.

The Rebels pulled away in the second half, building their largest lead at 22 in the final minute.
