Regarding "Glen Canyon Dam Flush," Ray Grass of the Deseret News outlines what, at its essence, concerns the ecological health of the whole Colorado River system within Grand Canyon.
As one stakeholder in the group that advises the Secretary of the Interior about dam operations, we need four things: (1) more flexible flows from Glen Canyon Dam to benefit native fish and build up beaches; (2) a temperature control system to improve native fish habitat; (3) a sediment augmentation device to increase sediment retention in the river system; and (4) a comprehensive nonnative fish control program to benefit native fish.
It's the Grand Canyon. We must do everything we can to protect and restore it.
