Draper's Mike Weir, trying to become the first player in nearly 30 years to win three times before The Players Championship, faded on the final day with a 74 and finished in a tie for 14th at 278. Weir had begun the day just two shots off the lead, but made two early bogeys before knocking his second shot in the water at the par-5 No. 8 hole and making double bogey.
Weir's BYU teammate, Dean Wilson, tied him at 278 after shooting a final-round 70. Both earned $77,500 as Weir remains atop the PGA money list with more than $2 million. Last week at Tucson, Wilson finished in a tie for 6th and earned $97,125.
