COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — BYU senior guard Travis Hansen has been named Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Cougars to a 3-0 record last week and a share of the regular season MWC title. This is Hansen's first player of the week honor this season and the second of his career.
Hansen, a product of Orem, Utah (Utah Valley State), scored a team-leading 21.3 points per game while adding 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game in three games last week. He also converted 80 percent of his free throws, making 20-of-25 attempts.
On Monday, he scored a team-high 26 points in the win at New Mexico (91-81), hitting 7-of-15 field goals and going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line.
