Divorce rarely an answer

Last year alone, more than 150,000 divorce papers were filed in the state of Utah. Many of these couples are parents. All too often, these parents think that their decision will not affect their kids or change their lives that much. In many cases, kids go into depression or do physical harm to themselves when their parents get divorced. Separation of siblings can be devastating. Having to choose between parents, as to where you live, is a choice no child should have to make.

Of course, there are situations where divorce is the only option. However, married couples, especially those with children, should make every effort to preserve the bond of family. Counseling with a professional and/or a clergyman may be a good step.

Don't assume that your family knows you care. Make them feel loved.
