Obituary: Hermese B. Ogden

Hermese Ogden, age 88, passed away March 10, 2003, in Salt Lake City, Utah, from complications of old age.

Born March 21, 1914, to Thomas and Violet Broadbent of Lehi, Utah. Married J. "Fil" Ogden August 25, 1937 in Ogden, Utah and later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

She graduated from Brigham Young University and commenced her teaching career in elementary education. As her family moved around the country, she taught in many public school systems. Her love of children and skill in teaching was constantly acknowledged as she was recognized as an "outstanding teacher".

Hermese's interests included family, especially her grandchildren, church service, reading, teaching, music, theatre, gardening and traveling. She served wherever called, including president of Relief Society, Young Womens and Primary.

She left a legacy of love of her fellowman, especially of children, charity and service, practical faith in action, a pure testimony of our Savior and a disciplined ethic of hard work.

Hermese is survived by her loving husband, Fil Ogden; children Larry (Judy) Ogden, Whittier, California; Mary Jane (Dr. Dennis) Gordon, Salt Lake City, Utah; and sister Margaret Nielsen, Provo, Utah. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren and 12

great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. at the Cottonwood Heights 5th Ward, 7075 South 2245 East, Salt Lake City. Family and friends may call Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. at the Ward. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery. Cannon Mortuary funeral directors.
