A crime is a crime

As a Native American, I fail to see why a crime committed against me is any more vile than a crime committed against a member of any other group.

Many things motivate crime — hate, greed, insecurity, domestic disputes. The list goes on. All crimes should all be prosecuted, regardless of the target. Motivation is merely an excuse for crime. Making a "special" category of crimes based on who the victim is is discriminatory. It implies that the victims are "special" as well. This either means the victim is superior to society at large and deserves better treatment or that the victim is inferior to society at large and needs to be pampered and sheltered.

This is offensive.
