My bank finally convinced me that continuing as its customer would be absolute stupidity. It started with a check I forgot to write down. Shortly thereafter the bank processed seven checks in one day and five bounced. There could be little doubt that, to maximize their fees, they processed the biggest first down to the smallest; the two biggest cleared.
If they had paid the smallest first only one would have bounced, saving me over $100. I went in to talk to them about it. (I was charged $4 for the visit.)
They said they weren't sorted and were paid in the order received. How could they let chance dictate the amount of their fees? They wouldn't budge because they said they hadn't made a mistake. It turns out they did. They lost another customer. I'm now very happy with my credit union.
