A Utah County man who apparently hitchhiked to Salt Lake City and lit a set of curtains inside a church on fire was arrested over the weekend.
The man, 25, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated arson.
About 11:17 a.m. Sunday the man saw curtains "fluttering in the breeze through an open window" of an LDS church at 660 N. Redwood Road, according to a police report.
For an unknown reason the man lit the curtains on fire, said Salt Lake City police detective Dwayne Baird. The fire burned itself quickly without causing any other damage.
Members of the church congregation ran outside and detained the man until police arrived.
