David Lladro, son of the youngest founding brother of the famous porcelain company, will bring in the clowns when he makes his first appearance in the United States. And because of the sculpture's popularity in Salt Lake City, the unveiling of a new line of circus-themed objects will take place here.
Lladro will be at the Meier & Frank store at the Cottonwood Mall on Friday, March 21, from 5-7 p.m. to talk about and sign these newest creations. Lladro, 28, is credited with being the inspiration behind a new look for the company, which has been based near Valencia, Spain, since 1953. The first clown was introduced in 1969; new additions this spring include "Circus Days," "For a Smile" and "The Show Begins."
