Obituary: Grant Wells Nelson

- Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, Grant Wells Nelson, returned to his loving Father in Heaven March 14, 2003 of a brain hemorrhage after a courageous battle with Parkinson


He was born January 25, 1925 to Reynold O. and Annie B. Wells Nelson in Salt Lake City, Utah. Grant married Maxine Wilcox, May 27, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Grant proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. after working as a brick mason for over 40 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many positions like ward clerk, 70's president and temple worker. Grant and Maxine served a mission to the Harrisville Pennsylvania Mission. His life was a testimony to those who knew him and to his family who loved him.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years; children, Rea Ann (Bruce) Olsen, Craig (Rose) Nelson, Cory (Alyson) Nelson, Pamela (Aaron) Speirs, Randy (Susan) Nelson, Max (Kimberly) Nelson; 24 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, brother, LaMar LaVee) Nelson.

Preceded in death by his parents, son, Paul Timothy, brother, Reynold Nelson.

Services will be Monday, March 17, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 South 8400 West, Magna. Friends may call Sunday, March 16, 2003, 6-8 p.m. at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna and 10- 10:45 a.m. at the church the day of services. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the LDS Missionary Fund or Primary Children's Hospital.
