Obituary: Virginia L. Eskelsen

Our beloved mother, grandma, and great-grandma, Virginia L. Johnson Eskelsen, 72, passed away March 10, 2003 from complications due to cancer.

Virginia was born Jan 3, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT to Joseph and Grace Johnson. Virginia married Ross Eskelsen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 26, 1952.

Virginia worked for U&I Sugar, West Jordan as a scale operator. Later she worked for the Union Elementary School in Midvale as a cook for many years before going to work for the Salt Lake County Court House, and Utah Title and Abstract. In Brigham City, UT, Virginia worked for Philip Hansen Title Co. When they transferred to Kennewick, WA she worked for Safco Title Co. and as a secretary for the LDS Seminary. She also held various jobs in the LDS church.

Virginia enjoyed cooking, baking cinnamon rolls, which her family loved, and canning fruits and vegetables. She also enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Virginia is survived by her children, Jacquie (Lynn) Parsons, Olympia, WA, Wendy Eskelsen (Lisa Ballantyne), La Sal, UT, Steve (Valerie) Eskelsen, Ballwin, MO; 10 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ross, whom she joins in heaven; mom and dad; and grandson, JD.

A viewing will be Wed. March 19, 2003, 6-8 p.m. Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St, Midvale, UT. Services will be Thurs. March 20, 2003, 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary. Burial, Murray City Cemetery, Murray, UT.

Virginia will be very much missed by people who knew and loved her.
