Obituary: Raema Day Hunsaker

"Together Again"

In loving memory of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Raema Day Hunsaker, born to Perry Arlington and La Priel Findlay Day June 25, 1931. Rae joined her beloved soul mate, Bob, March 15, 2003, only four days after his departure, from a long battle with lung disease. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert M Hunsaker, mother and father, and beloved granddaughter, Christian Marie Hunsaker.

Married Robert M Hunsaker June 28, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Blessed with four children, Rodney Day Hunsaker (Verlene), Robert (Bert) M Hunsaker Jr. (Liz), Raymond Dee Hunsaker (Dianne), and Judy Kay Hunsaker Floyd (Farren).

Survived by her brother, Don Alma Day, and sister, Arla Day Sauer. Rae's crown jewels and major accomplishment were her 13 grandchildren, Robert (Rob) Wade Hunsaker (Gena) Lisa Marie Hunsaker, Gregrey (Greg) Hunsaker, Christian Marie Hunsaker (deceased), Tifani Hunsaker Fisher (Ron), Kimberly Hunsaker Crump (Justin), Raymond Dee Hunsaker Jr. (Stephanie), Jeremy Ray Floyd, Daniel (Danny) Lee Hunsaker (Lauren), Kristy Floyd Johnson (Ryan), Tricia Ann Hunsaker (Tyler), Stacey Lee Floyd, Ryan Rod Hunsaker; five great-grandchildren, Thomas James Fisher, Hallie Rae Hunsaker, Daniel Mark Fisher, Kaylee Crump, Trey Johnson; honorary children and grandchildren, Susie and Jennifer, Kathy and Michael, Matt, Nick.

She started her career working for several companies as a bookkeeper. Moved to Bear Lake and bought the Holiday Marina where she became a trained EMT. She went on to teach for the Salt Lake City Fire Department as a certified medical instructor continuing her career as a Salt Lake City fire inspector retiring after 15 years of dedicated service.

She received tremendous enjoyment spending quality time with her grandchildren. Many hours of activity were spent at Raging Waters, the haunted houses, and especially the traditional New Years Eve party for the grandchildren. She looked forward every year to the annual trip to Bear Lake where she spent all her time with her family and friends. Rae had a tremendous love for gardening inside and outside her home.

A special thanks goes to the caretakers at Harmony Hospice especially Angelo and Traci.

A viewing will be Tues. March 18, 6-8 p.m. Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy. The funeral will be Wed. March 19, 2003 12 noon Cottonwood Stake Center (1805 E. 6400 S). Friends and family are invited to visit 11-11:45 a.m. Rae will be buried at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
