2003 Reunion

Esther Vernette Damsgaard Pome-roy, beloved wife, mother, "Grammy," aunt and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her sweetheart February 28, 2003.

Esther was born Feb 4, 1918 to Jensine and Jim Damsgaard in Cedar Falls, IA. After the death of her father, Esther, her three sisters and mother, moved back to Aalborg, Denmark to live.

Esther lived in Denmark until she was 19, then returned to America where she met her eternal companion and sweetheart, Claude H. Pomeroy. They we married June 20, 1941 in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. Active in the LDS church, Esther served faithfully throughout her life, including a mission to Lima, Peru with her sweetheart. At the "young" age of 74, she fulfilled another dream: skydiving!

Survivors include her four children, Paul Pomeroy (Jan), Minersville, UT, Jim Pomeroy (Gail), Minersville, UT, Mary Pomeroy, Topeka, KS, Judy Pomeroy Pond (Marden), Provo, UT; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grand-children; sister, Evelyn Brown, Bellflower, CA; numerous nieces; nephews; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters and two granddaughters.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving care given by IHC Hospice, and also family and friends who cared for Esther during her "determined" (albeit stubborn) battle with cancer. Thank you!

Services will be Mon. March 3, 2003, 11 am Edgemont LDS North Stake Center, 4320 N. Canyon Rd, Provo, UT. Friends and family may call 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Graveside services, Centerville City Cemetery, 3 p.m.
