Obituary: Ross Nels Johnson

Ross Nels Johnson passed away on March 18, 2003 at the Mountain West Hospital in Tooele surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 25, 1924 in Tooele, Utah to Erb M. and Florence Barber Johnson. He married his dancing partner and love of his life, Betty Jean Skinner on October 6th, 1945. Ross was a friend to all, always had a smile, and a joke. He loved to laugh. Children were the light of his life. He retired from TEAD after 35 years. He operated Valley View Farm with his son, Erb. He loved farming and enjoyed life. He loved animals. Work was his passion. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He served in three bishoprics, was a high councilman and served in many other positions in the LDS Church. He and his wife served in the Jordan River Temple. They served a mission on the property of Adam-ondi-Ahman in Missouri from 2000-2002.

He is survived by his wife, seven daughters and one son, Michalle "Mickey" (Gary) Gross, Jeanne Taylor, Kristie (Craig) Gross, Judy (Steve) Wilcox, Cindy McInnes, Roxie (George) Allen, Jill (Ralph) Martinez and Erb Ross Johnson. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren, and three sisters, Faye Connell, Roxie Bolinder, JoAnn Simmonds. He has many nieces, nephews and cousins that love him. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dee and two sisters, Luana and Barbara, two children, Paul and Ruth and one great-grandchild Riley.

Friends may call Thursday, March 20th, at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Viewing at the chapel prior to services at 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will be held at the Tooele North Stake Center, 583 North 270 East, Friday, March 21st at 1:00 p.m. Burial in the Tooele City Cemetery.
