Obituary: Leona Rose Allen

9/12/31 ~ 3/17/03

Leona Rose Allen, age 71, passed away at her daughter's home in Herriman, Utah on March 17, 2003.

Born September 12, 1931 to Charles Edward and Edna May Randles. She was currently residing in her beautiful home that both she and her husband of 22 years, Paul Allen, designed and built with their own hands in Dolan Springs, Arizona.

She was famous for her cooking, especially at Thanksgiving. No one could bake a pie like her. It can never be said that she was not a fighter. After a stroke took away some of her abilities three years ago, she continued to give all she had, even up to her last days. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. "We love you, and you will always be in our heart." She was a member of the LDS church.

She leaves behind her devoted husband; three daughters: Nora (Dave) Thorpe of Herriman, UT; Dorothy (Pat) Thomas of Bend, OR; Patricia (Grayson) Russell of Idaho Falls, ID; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, with one due in July; and three sisters: Arlene Schultz, Elaine Hienlein, and Bonnie Gibson. Preceded in death by her parents, three infant children, one brother, and four sisters.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rose Canyon First Ward, 5562 West 13680 South, Herriman, Utah. Friends may call on Friday at the Ward from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and prior to services on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Burial will follow at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road.
