Obituary: Marva A. Hansen

11/27/1899 ~ 3/15/03

Marva Attera Hansen, 103, passed away March 15, 2003 in Delta, Utah.

She was born November 27, 1899 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to John M. Jensen and Katherine M. Pedersen. She had five sisters and four brothers. As a young girl, her family moved to Sugar City, Idaho where she grew up and married her sweetheart, Aaron Albertus Hansen, on July 15, 1919. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Together they raised ten children. Five of her sons served in World War II and returned safely home.

Marva was active in the LDS Church and served in many leadership positions. She loved singing in the ward choir and doing temple work. She wrote her family history in poetry form, filling three volumes entitled "My Family Affair." Marva loved to crochet for others. Governor Leavitt received her last crocheted afghan which she made at age 102.

Marva lived a long and happy life, exemplified by service. All who knew and loved her marveled at her positive attitude and faithful endurance. Her smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed, but we know that she is having a great and joyous reunion with those who have gone before her.

She is survived by four sons and four daughters: Elmer (Janet), Joshua Tree, CA; Delmer (Beverly), Portland, OR; Lynn (Pat), Fallon, NV; Donald (Dixie), Corona, CA; LaDell (Jerry) Payne, Pueblo West, CO; Colleen (Gerry) Childs, EskDale, UT; Marva (Al) Beesley, Lapine, OR; LaVon (Eldon) Davidson, Springville, UT; 43 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Merlin A. (Kaye), Bountiful, and R. Mark (Pearl), Parowan.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2003 at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may call 9:00 - 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Bountiful Memorial Park.

The family would like to express heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers of West Millard Care Center who have so lovingly provided for Marva's needs during the past few years.
