ST. GEORGE, UT <! > - Our beloved
father, Stanley "Bill" Davidson Wahlen, age 93, died on March 15, 2003 in St. George.
He was born May 17, 1909 in Logan, Utah to Julius Charles and Annie Davidson Wahlen. He married Pearl Naylor June 30, 1932 in Ogden, Utah. They were later married for eternity on June 13, 1963 in the Logan Temple. His loving wife, Pearl, died March 25, 2002.
Bill was the youngest of four boys and one girl. He grew up in Logan and worked on the family farm in Benson Ward. He graduated from Logan High School in 1927.
After their marriage, Bill managed "Bob's Barbeque" in Ogden until 1942, at which time he was hired as a brakeman for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He was later promoted to freight conductor. He retired in 1976, and the family moved to Murray. In 1993, they moved to St. George to be close to their daughters.
Bill's first priority was his family, and he was always very sweet and patient with his daughters. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, particularly fly fishing. He was proficient at tying his own flies. He fished in most of the rivers in the West and also enjoyed deep sea fishing in Mexico.
Surviving family include: his daughters, MarDeanne Wahlen and Sharol (John) Wall, both of St. George; and grandson, Stanley Shane Wall of St. George. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his three brothers: Oliver, Robert, and Emory; and his sister, Lucia Checketts.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at Lindquist Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the Mortuary. Interment will be in the Ogden City Cemetery. Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury & Beard Mortuary, 673-2454.
