Obituary: Donna Huntington

Donna Huntington, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2003 at the age of 80.

Donna was born Sept 12, 1922 in Castle Gate, UT to Mary and William Casaday. Her father died when she was one year old. Her mother then married Clare Wareham who raised her. She was the youngest of nine children. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Price, UT where Donna attended school and later graduated from Carbon High School and LDS Seminary.

At the age of 18, Donna moved with her family to Springville, UT where she met and fell in love with Robert C. Huntington. They were married March 23, 1942 in Springville, UT. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple March 24, 1956. During World War II, Donna moved to Astoria, OR to be with her husband who had enlisted in the United States Navy. At the conclusion of the war, Robert and Donna returned to Springville, where they purchased a home and have resided for the past 57 years.

Donna loved to spend time with her family. Picnics, camping and travel were opportunities for her to share valuable time with her children and grandchildren. She was an especially talented cook and loved to have such foods as cakes and freshly made bread for those who visited her home. Besides her love of cooking, Donna also enjoyed reading and gardening. Throughout the years, their home in Springville won several city-beautifi-cation awards. Donna was a faithful and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved children and served for many years in the Primary and Sunday School organizations of the church. Donna will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and friend to the many people who knew her.

Donna is survived by one daughter and three sons, Barbara and Keith Sumsion, Ray L. and Sandra Hunting-ton, Michael and Tracy Huntington, Gary and Annette Huntington; 19 grandchildren, Brian, Robert, Holly, Jared, Matthew Sumsion (Connecticut-Hartford Mission), Lori (Sumsion) Moosman, James, Jef, Jay Huntington, Scott, Jana, Ashley Huntington, Heath-er (Huntington) Daniel; Gary, Ryan, Kellianne, Brett, Brandon, Christopher Huntington; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Ray Casaday; and sister, Ardath Carr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, two brothers and five sisters.

Services will be Tues. March 25, 2003, 2 p.m. Hobble Creek West LDS Stake Center, 555 S. 600 E, Springville. Friends and family may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S, Springville, or at the church one hour prior to services.

The family would like to thank Betty Diamond, a dear friend, and her niece Betty Fern Anderson, for their never ending service and love shown. We also want to give a special thanks to Vista Care Hospice.
