Obituary: Gordon A. Burke

1915 ~ 2003

Gordon Alma Burke, 87, of Provo, Utah, died March 23, 2003 in Orem, Utah.

He was born May 21, 1915, in Woodville, Idaho to Alma and Asenath Burke. He attended schools in Woodville and Shelley and graduated from Shelley High School in 1932.

He served an LDS Mission to Sweden from 1936 to 1938.

On January 10, 1940, he married Lila Balmforth in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived the first ten years of their marriage in Woodville before moving to Lincoln and then Ucon. They left Idaho in 1969 and moved to Provo, Utah.

Survivors include his children, Laurie Anne (Ron) McIntyre, Mesa, Arizona; Carter Karl (Linda) Burke, West Yellowstone, Montana; Spencer Joseph Burke, Boise, Idaho; Byron Alma Burke, Chandler, Arizona; Beverly Davis, Westminster, Colorado and Kelly Louis (Alicia) Burke, Mesa, Arizona; sister, Gail Sparks, Woodville, Idaho; 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lila, two sons, Gordon Kent and Richard Ernest; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Greszewski Burke; his parents and a grandson, Jacob Alma Burke.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the Edgemont 6th Ward Chapel, 4000 North 650 East, Provo. Friends may meet the family Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and at the church on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to service.

Burial will be in the East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery.
