Arrest may clear up thefts at building sites

The discovery of $10,000 worth of stolen construction equipment led to the arrest of a West Jordan man Monday night.

Acting on a tip from an informant, police served a search warrant at 4404 W. Barrington Drive (9060 South) and found a variety of items stolen from construction sites, including saws, windows and doors, said West Jordan Police Lt. Bob Shober.

"He was just out getting as much as he could possibly get," Shober said.

Investigators believe the man, 33, was trading or selling the stolen items at swap meets.

The man was arrested for investigation of several charges. The arrest will clear up at least five construction site robberies in West Jordan alone, Shober said.

The man is also suspected of stealing a number of Bobcats from construction sites in Midvale.
