I think it is time for the City Council to stop worrying about outdated, arbitrary zoning. If they had wanted to keep Main Street vital, they should not have approved Crossroads to be on the north end of the street in the first place.
Like it or not, the council has already created a great commercial/hopping/entertainment district in the Gateway. It will become Salt Lake's 5th Avenue.
Council members, your goal should be to bring people downtown, not punish large department stores that are trying to help keep tourists and locals in Salt Lake City.
Stop the unhelpful posturing and do what is right for Salt Lake City: Let Nordstrom move.
