'Bringing Down House' is tops for 3rd week in row

LOS ANGELES — Steve Martin and Queen Latifah are turning into squatters at the top of the box office.

Their comedy "Bringing Down the House" was the No. 1 movie for a third straight weekend, taking in $16.2 million and fending off a rush of new flicks.

The top 20 movies at North American theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. and Nielsen EDI Inc. are:

1. "Bringing Down the House," Disney, $16.2 million, 2,871 locations, $5,644 average, $83.3 million, three weeks.

2. "Dreamcatcher," Warner Bros., $15 million, 2,945 locations, $5,103 average, $15 million, one week.

3. "Agent Cody Banks," MGM, $9.2 million, 3,369 locations, $2,739 average, $26.5 million, two weeks.
