SANDY — Police here are looking for two men in connection to a home invasion robbery near 1050 East and 8600 South.
Five men apparently followed a man to his apartment and forced themselves inside shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday. The resident was held down as the apartment was ransacked, Sandy Police Lt. Mark Nosack said.
The men left with a high-powered assault rifle, possibly an AK-47, ammunition and other items yet to be determined. The resident was not able to identify everything taken because he was faced away from the men, Nosack said.
The men left in a vehicle, which the resident described to police. Police spotted it and tried to pull it over. A chase ensued and five men fled from the car near 8750 South and 1155 East. Police were able to detain three men. They found the weapon inside the car, Nosack said.
Police continue to search for two men who are described as 18 to 25 years old, Nosack said.
