Clarence Walter Reese, 88, died March 26, 2003.
Clarence Walter, "C.W." was born March 27, 1914 in Mountain View, Wyoming. C.W. was born to Dorcas Ancel Crockwell and Issac Walter Reese. He attended West High School and the University of Utah. He joined the Navy in 1941 as a Navy Intelligence Officer, San
Francisco and served as a Lieutenant aboard ship in
the South Pacific until 1945. C.W. married Gwendolyn Rasmussen on May 4, 1944.
He worked for Nichols Adjustment Bureau and in 1947, he founded the C. W. Reese Insurance Adjustment Company forming a partnership with nephew, Ralph Reese, 1955.
Retired 1985 at age 71. He served as President of Affiliated Adjusters Incorporated, President Utah Claims Adjusters,
Most Loyal Gander, Blue Goose International Utah Pond, member Masonic Order and Scottish Rite, Utah Chapter President Sons of the American Revolution and the Sojourners. C.W. married Inga-Lill Elton on September 15, 1972. Clarence was known for his insatiable curiosity for life, thirst for knowledge, and love of nature. C.W. personified the dignified "gentleman cowboy" who was a great storyteller, expressed a talent for writing and painting. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor and could always make people laugh with his anecdotes and "expressions."
He was a master gardener who enjoyed his gardens at Holladay
home of 54 years and house in Guymas,
Mexico. Anyone who spent time with C.W. walked away with a greater experience.
He helped his family and friends to understand life at a deeper level, to learn how to do something better, to savor one of his wisdoms.
life is to be celebrated for the contributions he made to his family, friends and community and for his one-of-a-kind spirit.
He is survived by his wife, Inga-Lill, his children, Claire Reese Davis, Rebecca Reese Jacoby, Roberta Reese Asahina,
Kristin Reese Winder, Tina Reese Waters, Shanni Elton Staker, Rose Marie Elton Milne, Rosalie Elton Henriod, 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. He is survived by sister, Edna Reese Hummer. He is preceded in death by his first wife Gwendolyn Rasmussen Reese, brother Elmer Reese, sister Dorcas Reese Hoes, son Michael Elton, and grandson Clinton Waters.
His family will celebrate his life with a Memorial Service at First Unitarian Church, 569 South 1300 East, Salt Lake City, Monday, March 31, 2003, 12:00 noon-1:00 p.m. Friends and family may come visit one hour prior to service at same Church.
