Auto service program for West, East students

Students at West and East high schools can now train in the automotive service industry thanks to a new Automotive Youth Educational System.

The program is supported by 17 car dealerships and Weber State University and offers high school juniors and seniors a chance to take courses in basic automotive technology or collision repair and refinish.

Some students will be able to complete internships at local dealerships during the summers. Those who graduate and receive AYES certification will be prepared to further their technical education or get a full-time job, according to a district news release.
