Obituary: Vearlee V. Howell

- Vearlee V. Howell, 83, our beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully from this life in Sandy, Utah Saturday, March 1, 2003.

He was born Dec 14, 1919, in Fish Haven, ID to William Alfred Howell and Alicia Naomi Virgin. He married Anneliese Gleissner Jan 19, 1945, in the Mesa LDS Temple.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many church callings during his lifetime, especially as Gospel Doctrine teacher for many years. He served three missions for the Church, Spanish American Mission, as a young man; Barcelona, Spain; and Corpus Christi, TX with his wife. In recent years, he served as an ordinance worker in the Los Angeles Temple. He served his country as an officer in the Air Force during World War II, retiring as a Major, and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Ricks College. He taught in the LDS Church Seminary System, then History and Spanish in the California public school system for 31 years.

Lee is survived by his wife, Anne, Sandy and Fish Haven; four children, Lynn (Carol) Howell, Vancouver, WA, Joyce (Ray) Nelson, South Jordan, Bruce (Jeanne) Howell, Missouri City, TX, Blair (Lori) Howell, Cedar Hills, UT; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters. He was preceded in death by one brother.

Services will be Tues. Feb 4, 1 p.m. St. Charles LDS Chapel, St. Charles, ID. Friends may call at Matthews Mortuary, 702 Clay St, Montpelier, ID Mon. 7-9 p.m. and Tues. at the church 11:30 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Burial, Fish Haven Cemetery.
