I am 15 years old and I was privileged to volunteer as a page for a lobbyist at this year's legislative session. It was interesting to hear all of the debates and meet all kinds of people with different opinions and also see how people who disagree can still be united in another.
It made me sad, though, to see a lot of bad bills, bills that would take our freedom away. I also saw a lot of good bills, bills that would have secured our freedoms, not get passed.
My experience also made me disappointed in most American citizens. I wonder how many people know who their state representative or senator is.
I challenge the citizens of Utah to get more involved in our government. If I can't even vote and I'm involved, then your participation is needed all the more.
