Obituary: Glen B. Edmunds


Glen B. Edmunds, son of Gomer and Hannah Lida (Braithwaite) Edmunds was born October 5, 1930, in Manti, Utah.

Married to Gweneth Passey on December 26, 1952, he was a beloved husband and father for 50 wonderful years. He graduated from the University of Utah and obtained two Master Degrees, from San Jose State and Oregon State Universities. A science teacher, he taught for 35 years at Canyon and Castro Valley High Schools and for 20 years at Chabot College. A veteran and fluent in Russian, Glen served his country four years in the U.S. Air Force at home and abroad in Turkey.

A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served the Hayward Stake as a member of its presidency, as stake mission president and twice as the First Ward bishop. Glen and Gwen served a two-year mission together in Vladivostok, Russia. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America for over 40 years. He enjoyed music, travel, singing, and aviation history and was an aficionado of World War II and World War II airplanes.

Glen is survived by his wife, Gweneth, children, Greg and Teri of Castro Valley, CA; Darryl and Leslie of Redmond, WA and Kelly and Teresa of Livermore, CA; grandchildren, Megan, Garrett, Kelsey, Blake and Jared; and sister, Nina Christiansen of Heber City, Utah.

Friends are invited to attend the memorial service at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2000 Highland Blvd., Hayward, on Mon., March 24, 2003 at 12:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
