ST. GEORGE — Led by distance runner Jon Kotter and All-American Amy Menlove, Alta High School swept both the boys and girls team titles at the annual Pine View Invitational Track and Field meet over the weekend.
Kotter, a senior, won the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:41.57, and he took second in the 1,600-meter run and anchored the second-place medley relay team.
The boys finished with 140 points, leaving them well ahead of runner up Orem (87). Alta girls collected 129 points to runner up North Summit's 76 in the 16-team field.
Menlove won the 100- and 200-meter dashes in 12.33 and 25.38 and the long jump with a leap of 18-9. Teammate Dana Strauss swept the hurdles and Sarah Romig won the javelin and was second in the shot put and discus.
The meet's top performances were produced by Orem's Amber Harper, who won the 1,600 in 5:12.45 and 3,200 in 11:06.04. Alta junior Dan Hutson won the 800-meter run with a superb time of 1:56.20 and anchored the winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams.
