Obituary: John S. Jaynes

John Sidney Jaynes, 91, died peacefully at his home Saturday, March 29.

He was born July 18, 1911 in Mound Valley, KS to Orville and Violet Jaynes. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. John married his sweetheart Marjorie Edman Aug 8, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Marge passed away after 61 years of marriage. He later married Rosie Waters March 30, 1996.

John served an LDS mission in Germany, 1932. He was active in the LDS Church and enjoyed serving in many positions throughout the years. John retired from United Airlines in 1976 after more than 30 years of service. He also ran his own painting and wallpaper business for many years. He was a hard worker and has passed on a strong work ethic and attention to detail. He will be remembered for his generosity, always willing to help others and to share the bounties of his garden.

John was an avid gardener and kept up a beautiful yard that was admired by all. He loved entertaining his family and friends on his backyard patio that he called "Shangri-La." He spent many happy hours fishing and puttering around. John was a doer and gained much satisfaction from crossing off projects from his never ending "to-do" list. He was charming and gracious and will be missed by all his friends at the Golden Years Senior Citizens Center, Bountiful.

Survived by his son, Dr. Clark E. Jaynes (Maxyne), Palm Desert, CA; daughter, Jarilyn J. Sterling (Donald), Bountiful, UT; older sister, Mary Davies, San Clemente, CA; younger brothers, Lloyd, Hoysington, KS, Richard (Lileth), Salt Lake City, UT, Robert (Violet), Bountiful, UT; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents; wives, Marjorie, Rosie; brothers, Alan, Ben; and sisters, Evelyn, Dolly, Ellen, Helen.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wed. April 2, Bountiful LDS 21st Ward chapel, 1900 S. Orchard Dr, Bountiful. Friends and family may call Tues. April 1, 6-8 p.m. Russon Brother's Mortuary, 295 N. Main St, Bountiful and Wed. 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Golden Years Senior Citizens Center, 726 S. 100 E.
