Willard Benjamin Weeks, 79, died, surrounded by his family, Saturday, March 1, 2003, in St. George, Utah from complications related to a recent heart attack.
He was born February 11, 1924 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Willard Benjamin Weeks Sr. and Johanna Melinda Nielson. Ben grew up in Irwin, ID. and Salt Lake City. He also lived in El Monte, CA before settling in Woods Cross, UT where he lived for 45 years before moving to St.. George, UT one year ago. Ben married Patricia Cole on December 30, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnize in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with a long and happy marriage. He spent many years alone after Patty's death in 1992. On April 28, 2001 he married Twyla C. Poulson Bell. Their happiness was cut short by his sudden passing.
Ben served in the US Navy during World War II. He later followed his father into the construction business. He built many beautiful homes and even more beautiful relationships. People were immediately drawn to him and remained to become life-long friends. Ben had a particular affection for children and youth, many of whose lives have been blessed by his love and example.
Ben lived a life of service to his family, friends, church and community. He will be long remembered and loved for the countless charitable acts which distinguished his life. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in numerous capacities. At the time of his death he was serving as a worker in the St. George Temple. He served as Woods Cross City Councilman for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Twyla; his daughter, Lynda (Greg) Silva; his step-children, Cynthia L. Bell; Ronald L. Bell; Nancy L. (Brent) Haacke; Randy C. (Janet) Bell; Carilyn C. Meederink; Shawn P. (Lisa) Bell; four grandchildren; 30 step-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; his sisters, LaWave Murphy; Viola (Keith) Wilcox; Lila Bernice (Ray) Reed; Shirley (Clarence) Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wood Cross 2nd Ward Chapel, 790 West 1500 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Thursday morning from 9:45 -10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
