Obituary: Melvin George Carter

A kind & patient man

Our loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather, Melvin George Carter, 60, passed away March 2, 2003 from injuries sustained in a shooting accident.

He was born October 21, 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah to George E. and Donna Bailey Carter. He married Nancy Huish July 19, 1975 in Salt Lake City.

Mel served in the US Navy and retired from the Army National Guard. He was employed at Hill Air Force Base. He loved his family very much and was always concerned about everyone. He enjoyed the outdoors, and always had a positive outlook on life.

Survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Ryan (Mandi) Carter, Natalie Carter, Tonia Carter, and Debbie Carter; mother, Donna Cross; brothers and sisters, Lois (Phil) Rasmussen, Jackie (Doug) Smith, Clair (Barbara) Carter, Terry Wheeler, Eileen (Gary) Voorhees, Bob (Darci) Cross, Coleen (Dan) Shields, Margaret Carter, and Pauline (Mark) Butler; brother and sisters-in-law, Jon (Jackie) Huish, Mary (Wyatt) Peterson, Rita Cross, and Mary Carter; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who all loved him very much.

Preceded in death by his father, George E. Carter; stepfather, Frank E. Cross; brothers, Randy Carter and Frank W. Cross; in-laws, Byron and Coral Huish; and nephews, Todd Smith and Jacob Peterson.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the Riverside 7th Ward, 500 West Germania St. (5120 South). Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, and Thursday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church in Murray. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
