Austrian Consulate opens Salt Lake office

Utah is opening its first Austrian Consulate office Tuesday in downtown Salt Lake City, and Lt. Gov. Olene Walker was to honor Utah resident and Austria native Franz Kolb as the state's newly appointed honorary consul for his homeland.

The office, which will help Austrian nationals who need assistance in Utah, is now located at 240 Edison St. Honorary consuls help foreign nationals with visa and passport issues as well as assist international visitors in distress. In addition to his nonpaid position as honorary consul, Kolb is a trade executive with the state's International Business Development Office.
