Richard Oakly Collins, 77, "slipped the surly bonds of earth" March 1, 2003.
Born June 26, 1925 in Racine WI, and raised by Stanley Collins and Leone Crane. Richard was raised on Simpson Avenue in Salt Lake City, UT and graduated from South High in 1943. He married Ula Mangus on
November 19, 1948. The couple were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple and had three sons. He entered the military service and became the world's "greatest fighter pilot".
Widowed in 1986 Richard married Imogene Stephens. He is survived by his sons, Michael, Dale and Matthew; Imogene and her sons, Bill and Jim; daughters-in-law, Beth, Holly, Tracy, and Chris; and 10 grandchildren.
To yesterday's companionship and tomorrow's reunion.
Visitations will be held Thursday, March 6, 2003 6-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, St. George, UT and Sat. March 8th 11-11:45 a.m., Russon Brothers Mortuary, Bountiful, UT. Graveside services along, with Military Honors will be at 12:00 noon in Bountiful City Cemetery, under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary.
