Obituary: Ruby Savage Oler

We Learned From Her Love

On March 6, 2003, Ruby passed away peacefully at her home in Kearns in her husband's arms with her daughters by her side.

Born January 1, 1918 at Grapevine Springs near Leeds, Utah to Mary Evaline Ross and Riley Cooper Savage, the sixth of eight children. She married LeRoy Thomas Oler October 21, 1949 in the St. George Temple. She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in a variety of callings over the years.

She attended Dixie College, BYU and earned her Bachelor's Degree from Western Montana College. Ruby's teaching career began in Kamas, Utah. She also taught in Toquerville and Leeds, Utah and Lima, Montana. Her students loved her because she loved them.

Ruby was artistic; she enjoyed ceramics, textile painting and crocheting. She will also be remembered for her humorous readings and her flair for telling stories.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years; daughters Mary Margaret (Richard) Kesler and Diana Lynne (Tommy) Tucker; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 10th at 12:00 Noon at the Kearns 6th Ward, 4260 W. 5215 S., Kearns. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow the services at Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
