1942 ~ 2003
Our beloved husband, father, granddad, brother, uncle and friend, Stephen Virgil James, passed away surrounded by loved ones May 23, 2003, just four days after his 61st birthday.
He was born to Virgil and Frances James in Salt Lake City, UT. He married the beautiful and talented Vicki Lorraine Adams in the Los Angeles Temple after serving an LDS mission in the Northwestern States. After graduating from McCallum High School, Austin, TX, he attended the University of Texas, then BYU, where he met the love of his life. Out of the many places he lived, he remained a "true Texan," displaying southern hospitality and mastering the art of southwestern barbecue.
Steve quietly touched the lives of many people serving in numerous capacities, both in the LDS Church and in the community. From the Days of '47 chairman of judges, to 11 years of coaching football and baseball, he loved working with people. He won numerous awards in the field of sales and marketing. A host extraordinaire, Steve loved to spend time with his family and close friends, cooking, eating, playing games, freezing homemade ice cream and making his famous pizza. He was courageous in overcoming great adversity, teaching those left behind to never give up. He will be greatly missed.
Steve leaves behind his dedicated and loving wife, Vicki; children, Steve (Lisa), Tamera, Wendy Warr (Doug), John (Andrea); sisters, Nancy Linder, Julie Moselle (Dennis); brothers-in-law, Frank J. Adams (Laurena), Michael Adams (Dianne), Richard Adams (Sunny); grandchildren, Jessica, Josh, Taylor, Jacob, Alexis Warr, Adam, Alyssa, Eric, Brittany James, Olivia, Alexandra James; 11 nephews; and 12 nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to all those who so lovingly cared for our father.
