The Salt Lake City School District has received the Environmental Protection Agency's Leadership Award under the Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools program — the first district in the state to receive such honors.
The district two years ago decided to voluntarily adopt the EPA's program, committing to good indoor air quality in all schools, according to an EPA news release.
"The EPA's tool kit gave us a step-by-step plan that will help ensure the indoor air quality in all our schools is improved for our kids," said Gregg Smith, director of buildings and grounds for the district.
