SPRINGVILLE — Officials have released the name of the man killed by a Union Pacific train Friday night.
Daniel Dolinar, 28, was struck and killed by an empty southbound coal train just after 8 p.m. at approximately 400 West and 200 South.
According to the Springville Police Department, the train's two engineers saw Dolinar, Springville, on the tracks and used their horns to warn him. The train began to slow immediately, but because of its weight, between 12 million and 20 million pounds, it took about half a mile for it to stop after hitting Dolinar.

Train speeds along that set of tracks are normally between 40 and 50 mph, police said.
