In reference to Lee Benson's column about Saudi Arabia, I would like to add a few thoughts. First, perhaps the kiosk clerk assumed (unfairly, I admit) that as a perceived non-Muslim you were not fasting and therefore not as hungry as the Muslims in line who he assumed had been fasting.
Second, in my encounters with Muslims from Morocco to Indonesia, I have most often experienced nothing but kindness and respect. On occasion I have met an Arab or a Muslim who has demonstrated unbecoming characteristics, but I have met Mormons and Utahns who are equally as unbecoming.
I would hope outsiders would judge Utah and Mormons by our collective goodness and not by the occasional rotten apple. And I would hope that we would extend that same courtesy to other peoples.
