I read the comments offered by Adrian Messenger in today's Deseret News and I would like to make a few comments. I would ask that you read the Constitution of the United States before commenting on issues such as the Electoral College.

While I feel a better means could and should be created in selecting the president, I would not support, for any reason, electing our president by popular vote. Research the comments made by the founders at the time of the Declaration of Independence, and later when the Constitution was written. The United States is not now, nor was it ever intended to be, a democracy, but rather a republic. I feel our citizens need to understand the document that guides our leaders and the meanings behind those words.
